Shelbi Jackson
Shelbi Jackson earned her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with a focus in Motor Behavior (Exercise Science) from Texas A&M University, where she worked with the track and field team during the 2010-2011 season. She later pursued a Master of Science in Sport and Recreation Management at Indiana State University.
A native of Thrall, Texas, Shelbi’s passion for athletics began as a multi-sport athlete competing in cross country, basketball, and track. Her love for coaching and leadership emerged in high school when she volunteered with her local Little Dribblers and baseball/softball leagues, as well as teaching swimming lessons during the summer.
Shelbi began her professional career coaching middle school athletics while completing her alternative teaching certification. She later transitioned to teaching high school science and coaching at the high school level. Most notably, she served as the head girls track and field coach at Lake Belton High School, where she successfully grew the girls' program to over 110 athletes. Under her leadership, the team achieved a district championship, multiple state appearances, numerous personal bests, and a host of school records during her tenure.
Currently, Shelbi teaches in Salado ISD while pursuing her Texas administrator certification to better serve her home community. Alongside her teaching role, Shelbi is deeply involved in her community. She serves on the Salado Little League Board and the Salado Youth Basketball Board, contributing to the development of youth sports programs. Additionally, she is the acting Community Coordinator for the Healthy Kids Running Series, where she helps promote a love of running and physical activity among local children.
With over 15 years of track and field experience as both an athlete and coach, Shelbi has participated in nearly every track event, fueling her lifelong passion for the sport. Her summers spent competing alongside other dedicated athletes further cemented her commitment to track and field. She strongly believes in fostering a positive physical mindset in young athletes, emphasizing the importance of building a strong foundation of skills to prepare them for future athletic success and a lifetime of healthy physical activity.
Shelbi lives in Salado with her husband, Coby, and their three children, Jax, Knox, and Lenyx. In her free time, she enjoys spending time outdoors, watching baseball, and playing sports with her family.
